Spa days are all about taking care of yourself in ways you wouldn’t normally. So, taking time to rest: yes. Taking a long bath: YES. Gifting yourself some bath essentials: a must.
If you follow me on Instagram you know I have been working my fingers to the bone sewing face masks and medical mask headbands this week. When things get back to normal, I would like to DIY a spa day to myself. It would be great to just go to the spa but with many states issuing stay-at-home orders, it’s harder than normal to get that day of relaxation. We should all be doing our part to social distance so going out of the house just for bath products is out of the question. Fortunately, there are ways to enjoy ourselves right at home and I have been thinking of how I can do that with what I can get in the mail.
I have managed to do some laundry and that has given me some time to look around the house as I wash, dry, fold. I thought about all my favorite things or what I was looking for to put my mind at ease. This is what I came up with:

1. Herbal Tea
Herbal tea is super relaxing to me. I normally drink the prepackaged tea that comes in tea bags but in the name of treating myself to something new and different I tried loose leaf tea. I came across this brand, Pinky Up, and I was immediately attracted to the pretty packaging. I know, not the best reason to try a tea but it was so pretty! I was taken in by how beautiful it was but I stayed for the benefits. The tea is all natural, herbal and organic and I think that is just wonderful. I ordered some from their website and I’m glad I did. It was so tasty. The chamomile citrus is my current favorite. Each sip is soothing and relaxing. When I get my spa day this is a definite must have item.
The only part I didn’t like was the actual tea leaves being loose in my drink. Thankfully I found a nice little infuser that let me steep my leaves without the leaves staying in my drink.

2. Silver Tea Infuser
The infuser that I found is really neat. The easiest to find tea infuser is a little steel ball with a latch. It works. It’s a little clunky and I spill tea leaves using it. I also have to use a spoon to stir my tea afterward. That’s not a major deal but on my spa day I don’t want to have to worry about all the clean up afterward.
That’s why I like my little heart infuser. I put the tea in the heart and put it in my cup. I can let it steep just like with the steel ball. But the long handle allows me to also stir the tea without needing an extra spoon. It seems small but it really adds to the experience of drinking the tea. And who can say no to minimizing clean up?

3. Champagne Bath Salts
Now we are getting to the real deal part of the spa day, the bath. No one wants to sit in a plain hot bath on spa day. The whole point is to take extra special care of yourself. This is where I want to pull out all the stops. I found these Champagne Bath Salts from Oily Blends. Doesn’t that just sound luxurious? The salts are made with a smooth blend of salt and oils to create an aromatic bath experience. I’ve tried this myself and I absolutely love it. The salt and the oils provide a great soak, but there’s just one thing missing. I may have it on hand.

4. Banded Eye Pillow
My eye pillow. There’s nothing I like better than being able to wear my eye pillow in the bath now that they have the elastic bands on them. I normally like lavender in my eye pillow but for my spa day bath I use peppermint. The peppermint really adds to the smell of the bath and makes a great addition to the bath experience. I can lean back and slouch down and pop the pillow over my eyes to relax. If you haven’t seen the new eye pillows, they are over in my shop. Give them a look.

5. Neck Wrap
Then last but not least is my neck wrap. I normally caution against using the neck wrap anywhere it can get wet. Water can ruin a perfectly good neck wrap. But during my spa day I want to read while I soak. Sitting up and reading a book or thumbing through Homes & Gardens magazine should keep the wrap high enough to be away from danger. The extra heat on my shoulders also makes sure that I stay warm while I soak. I also like that when I use the wrap on my shoulders it leaves a faint scent of the herbs; something that makes me feel cared for and pampered.
It’s important to note that we all should remember to care for ourselves as well as each other in this time. It’s okay to feel exhausted or overwhelmed. If you have cried, that’s ok. If you have been scared, that’s ok. The key to getting through this is to remember that we will get through this together. Whether you like to take hot baths or you like to concentrate on a hobby you haven’t touched in a while, make sure you remember yourself.
If you are interested in any of these products, I have left links though out the post to make it easier for you to get them. All the companies are small businesses; owned by people like you and me. For me, choosing a small business was a major plus. To be able to send business to other small businesses that support families, neighbors and friends feels awesome and adds to spa experience. For even more convenience I put each item together as a package in my shop. It’s available now. The gift basket would be perfect as a gift for mothers for Mother’s Day or as just a general gift.
